7 Ways to Get FREE Website Traffic and Make More Money Now

Oct 16th, 2009 by vvt

We all want the same goal: to Make More Money, but the lifeblood of our Internet Business is traffic. Most of us when first starting out on the Web had, shall we say, less than an ideal amount of marketing dollars to spend on Traffic Generation.

What’s a website owner to do? Well, here’s a quick and dirty list of 7 ways to get FREE Website Traffic.

As a bonus when using all of these methods, you’ll not only get Free Traffic, but you’ll attract Targeted Traffic, which is the holy grail of online visitors. Make it a point to use all of these methods as often as you can cram into your schedule and you’ll start to be rewarded handsomely after a couple months of patience and diligent work.

Backlinks through Comments on other Blogs

Search for high-ranking blogs in or related to your industry and leave regular comments on their posts. Get the Google Toolbar when checking out each site so you can see the PageRank. Really, when you’re just starting out, pretty much anything that has some history and pagerank will help, but if you want to supercharge your results, aim for high pagerank posts that use similar keywords as you. Just make sure you’re actually adding to the conversation and not just typing a couple words for the sole purpose of getting a backlink. Also, check the source code for comments to make sure the links aren’t rel=”nofollow” so that you’re getting credit for all your posts.

Niche Forums

Find forums that are related to your site and become a regular contributor to them. Edit your profile and add a quick call to action with a link to your website in your signature so that everytime you make a post or reply it will automatically insert a backlink for you. Don’t be spammy with your writing; add value to the community.

Social Networking.

I know this one is mentioned everywhere, but still holds true today.Sign up for accounts on Facebook, MySpace, Squidoo, and Twitter and draft quality information with links in your profile back to your site. Concentrate on useful content with emphasis on building lasting relationships with everyone you meet.

Article Marketing

There are numerous Article Directories where you can submit your work to that all include a Resource Box containing a brief sales pitch and link back to you. Some of the more popular directories can be found at Ezine Articles, Buzzle, GoArticles, and iSnare. I recently wrote an in-depth post on how to Get Free Traffic with Article Marketing if you’d like to find out more about this topic (link to blog below this article).

YouTube and other Video Communities

Open up a YouTube account and spend some time filling out your profile with links to your site and start posting informative videos related to your niche. Make sure to use the description field to your advantage whenever posting videos because it allows you to add more info and keywords that will help your video get ranked higher in the search engines, especially Google, since they own it. Don’t forget to put your web address at the beginning of your description, including the “http://” so it can show up as a clickable link in the “more info” section of the page.
It may seem obvious, but remember to edit your web address into the video at key moments to further expose your site and gain popularity. My Videos are more than Moving Pictures when it comes to Internet Marketing post gives more info (link to blog below this article).

Yahoo! Answers

Get a Yahoo! Answers account and fill-out your profile with website backlink and start answering questions related to your niche. Really try and provide quality responses that help their problems and you may even get picked as a “best answer” and drive a good amount of traffic back to your website.
Additionally, you can link your Yahoo 360 account to this profile for even more exposure. Give great advice, while posting often and you can expect a great response for your efforts. As you complete more and more answers, you have a rating that increases to further boost your expertise in that topic.

Link Exchange with others

The age-old link exchange still has its place in building free traffic and can really thrust your site into stardom if you can build a friendship with the right person. Try opening up the lines of communication between several key owners of popular sites in your niche or a related one and work on building up a trusting work relationship. After some time, go ahead and ask for the link or to write a post as a guest author and see what happens. You don’t know what someone will say or offer if you don’t try in the first place.

Use of these methods will really help with getting Free Website Traffic to your site and the great thing is that all of them will provide long-term results. They build upon one another and each and every link is an additional small boost in traffic. Eventually and with determination, you’ll grow a river of continually flowing traffic that will ultimately allow you to Make More Money Online.

Quick And Easy Guide For Generating Traffic To Your Website

Oct 11th, 2009 by vvt

So you have set up your website, hosted it with a web hosting company and it’s now live on the World Wide Web. The key question now is how do you generate traffic to your site?

There are various ways of promoting your site and generating traffic to your site. Let us look at some of these:

1. Use Search Engine Optimisation

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) involves getting your website picked up as high as possible in search engine results pages. Examples of such search engines are Google, Yahoo, Msn etc.

A search engine is a site that enables a user to search for information by entering a term, clicking a button and enabling a database containing information on millions of websites to return a page of results in response to the query.

A large number of people around the world use Google nowadays, and getting your site ranked up there when anyone types in key words relating to your business is very likely to generate traffic to your site.

2. Have linkages of your site on other sites

Linking strategy is an important part of generating traffic to your site. One way of doing this is to get other sites to link to you by offering to them and asking the other site to return the favour. You can offer the other site tips or very interesting content that they want to send visitors to your site.

You can also pay for other sites to link to you. If the other site is well established or when you type in your key words on the search engine it always comes up first, then it might be beneficial linking your site to that site.

You could link to websites of companies that are your partners, sites with industry information and also web sites about products that are used with your own. With such linkages, you can attract potential customers to your site.

3. Buy Traffic

Google Adwords, Yahoo sponsored search and other companies can connect you with potential customers by offering a Pay per click service. The way this works is that you have a list of key words that is applicable to your website and your business.

You then buy these keywords on search engines which help to make sure that your website is listed on the first page when someone searches for words that are relevant to your website.

The thing here is budget, because most websites will charge more for the most popular keywords.

If you are looking to find useful keywords for your site, then Google Adsense is one of the largest online advertising programs that you can use.

4. Promote your website with social networking sites

This is another way in which you can drive traffic to your site. Luckily, the likes of Facebook, twitter, myspace, friendster etc. can make your job a whole lot easier.

What you do here is register and build a community of online friends and include your web address in your online profile. This potentially can help drive traffic to your site, as far as you are not overly pushy about it.

5. Join forums and Discussion groups

This is an indirect way of potentially generating traffic to your site. What you do is take part actively in forums and discussion groups. There are many of them out there, all you need to do is look for the forums and discussion boards that are relevant to your website or business and join.

When you participate in forums or discussion boards, you have to be seen to be someone that gives honest answers to questions posed by other people in the forum or discussion board.

You can include a link to your site when someone asks a question on the forum or discussion board that you feel you know the answer to, or that your products or services on your website can answer the question.

Just asking people directly to visit your website can get you banned from the forum or discussion board, so be aware of that.

Generating traffic to your website is something you should constantly be working on, on a day to day basis.

Even the top search engine optimisation organisations come up with hundreds or thousands of key words and then they track the results of these key words to see which ones customers click on the most and which to cancel off.

This is also a strategy you can use, because you only get charged on the key words that were clicked on.

What is Social Media and How Can You Use it to Build a List?

Oct 9th, 2009 by vvt

Who else wants tons of free traffic, free backlinks, new subscribers… and more money? All of this (and more) can be yours when you start using social media sites to drive targeted traffic to your site and onto your mailing list!
Now before we jump into the details, let’s define “social media.” First. Basically, social media sites are those where like-minded individuals (niche groups) can meet, network and share information. They are the latest trend in internet marketing. Marketers have been jump into the wagon to use and then maximize the power of social sites. They are powerful tools to bring traffic to any site. The most popular types of social media sites include:
1) Social networking sites. These are sites like MySpace.com, Facebook.com, Friendster.com and LinkedIn.com. Here, people with common interests can network, get on each other’s “friends” lists, keep their friends updated using bulletins (internal emails) and blog posts, etc.
2) Social bookmarking sites. These are sites like Digg.com, Reddit.com, StumbleUpon.com, Propeller.com and similar. The idea behind these sites is that users can share interesting web pages with other members.
Members rate and review pages – the more good ratings and reviews, the more these pages are seen by other people… and that means these sorts of sites work hand-in-hand with viral content.
3) Social “Content Sites.” These content sites include YouTube and other video-sharing sites, Squidoo and other user-generated pages, Yahoo! Answers and other community question/answer platforms, and similar.
Like the other social media sites, these content sites integrate social networking. However, the content sites are primarily known for their content – and for the love that Google gives them. (That means if you optimize your pages for long-tail keywords, you can snag top rankings in Google.)
If you want to start using social media sites to drive traffic to your site and subscribers onto your newsletter list, remember this: These sites don’t operate in a vacuum. The more you use them together, the more powerful the strategy becomes and the more traffic you’ll see.
For example, let’s suppose you create a video to post on YouTube. You should then:
* Use Digg, StumbleUpon.com and similar to bookmark the video.
* Post the video on your social networking sites (like MySpace) and alert your friends list.
* Post the video on your other content sites like Squidoo and HubPages.
* And blog about it on all of your social media sites.
In other words, your accounts on all these different sites give you plenty of opportunities to link your social profiles and pages together as well as sending links back to your own site.
Now that you know a bit about how these sites work and how you can use them to drive traffic to your own site, you’re probably wondering how, exactly, you can leverage them for links, traffic and sales.
